August 2019 Principal’s Message
We have had a really great start to the school year here at Arrowhead Elementary. I want to start off by letting you know how much we all appreciate your support at our Back to School Open House. Thank you for your patience as we spent last week testing your children. This is so important as we find the baseline of your students learning and know where to begin our instruction this year in order to provide them the best learning experience possible. I know I can speak for our teachers when I also say Thank You for all of the donations that have been brought in for our classes. It means so much to the teachers, and it is so helpful as they go throughout the year.
I have a few quick items of safety I need you to be aware of.
PICK UP/DROP OFF: Please make sure when you are in the drop-off or pick up line that you do not leave your car parked there. It slows down our process and is frustrating if you are the parent stuck behind the parked car. If you need to get out of your car please find a parking space. As cars move forward please move forward as well. This will help to decrease the line of traffic on the street and allow parents to pick up their students more quickly.
Be aware that you shouldn’t wave your student across the pick-up lane to meet you in the parking lot. Parents who are pulling away from the curb may not see your student crossing and they run the risk of getting hit. If you park in the parking lot, please walk across and help your student walk back to your car.
BUS LANES: If you park on the south side of the building where the bus lane is, please do not walk in the bus lanes. Please stay on the sidewalk when picking up or dropping off students. If you park across the street from the school, please walk your students across the street. Please encourage your students to walk around the buses on the sidewalk and not between the buses. NO CARS SHOULD USE THE BUS LANE TO DROP OFF STUDENTS.
SEP NIGHTS: Next week will be our first SEP meetings. They will be on Wednesday the 28th and Thursday the 29th. More information will be coming home about SEP’s from your child’s teacher. These meetings will provide you with more specific information about your child’s teachers expectations and procedures as well as grade-level requirements. The results of your child’s testing information from last week will also be given to you.
VOLUNTEERS: WE WELCOME VOLUNTEERS! If you are volunteering for the first time this year please stop by the office and sign the volunteer form. There is a district required video that you need to watch before you work with students. It is about 10 minutes long and you can watch it here in the office the first time you volunteer.
We appreciate all of our help. Please feel free to come in and say hello, ask questions, or let us help you with any concerns.
